Rebel Hockey was founded in 2015 to provide holistic support to young, aspiring hockey players. Focus and built with player development at it's heart, Rebel provides athletes with more than just on field hockey coaching. From 2015 - 2022 we ran a full athlete support programme as part of our academy programs. Featuring sports psychology, nutrition, strength & conditioning, injury management and video analysis alongside the high performance on field coaching sessions.

​We have a highly experienced team featuring coaches/players with National League, Premier League and International hockey experience. Rebel was founded in 2015 by James Sordillo and Chris Gittens with the support of a team of experts in their own respective fields.

 

James started his coaching journey with Trojans HC, before coaching at Leicester HC and Beeston HC, where he was the Womens 1st XI Head Coach for 3 years in the Premier League. Beeston won the National Cup 3 years in a row under James's leadership. James now coaches American Football, embracing a different coaching challenge!

Chris also started his coaching pathway at Trojans HC, leading both the Mens & Womens 1st XIs. Joining Surbiton, Chris led the girls U16 & Womens 2nd XI program for 3 years alongside becoming assistant coach to the Womens 1st XI. After a very successful spell at Surbiton, experiencing Premier League final success, Junior National Titles and European Hockey, Chris joined Reading HC as Head of Talent Development, running the Reading Talent Academy alongside work with both the Womens 1st & 2nd XI. For the 2026 season, Chris has also been working with England U18 Boys as a part of the coaching team.
